I’m Off

I can’t believe summer is halfway done! I’m traveling tonight and by the time I’m back it’s going to be Ramadan. The past month was very busy, so the next three weeks will be 100% relaxation – I hope. I just finished packing, but I still didn’t prepare posts for when I’m gone. I left it last because it’s time consuming and I really needed inspiration to hit before I start writing. The other thing I have to do is to get a camera cover for my new camera! I’m going to be posting it about it soon. It’s a Canon G1X and that’s what I’m going to use for when I’m traveling. I wish you all the best. Enjoy every bit of your summer and never give up on your dreams!

Weekly Photo Challenge (19) – Summer

When I saw this weeks photo challenge, I really laughed. Out of all the possible topics, the daily post choose Summer. It’s harder than it looks. At first I thought maybe I should put the picture of the header and finally explain what it means. I also thought of making a collage of all the things I love about the summer season. Then I remembered that my gravatar picture is far more important. I use it for my twitter profile too.

The picture above was taken in California in 2007. It’s really a priceless picture to me. It was my first trip to the US and the lighting in the picture couldn’t have been more perfect. Who knew that someday I would be making it my trademark. Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying their summers as much as I do. What’s everyone’s plans?

Check out the past challenges in the challenge category!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation – Review

Honestly, this movie would have been much better if the title wasn’t so long/boring. I really wouldn’t have watched it if it wasn’t that Mel Gibbson was in it and he hasn’t been in a lot of movies lately, so I was curious.

With Mel Gibson doing himself no favors in the public media over the last six years, this movie is a much-needed reminder of why he was so great. The movie captures everything we truly loved about Gibson’s performances: charm, wit, humor, and edge. The script by Gibson, director Adrian Grunberg and producer Stacey Persky is an original that can very easily be considered an unofficial sequel to Gibson’s cult favorite, Payback. This movie is about a career criminal (Gibson) nabbed by Mexican authorities and placed in a tough prison where he learns to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy. While Gibson’s character never reveals his actual name, he possesses a chain-smoking habit, sticky fingers, an iron jaw, and a penchant for bloodshed. A thrilling movie, well-paced, and good action sequences.

UPDATE It turned out the movie title in the US was Get The Gringo (a much better name).

Milan Hotel Suggestions

My family and I have been thinking of going to Milan this summer. We’re still not sure if we’re going because we want to keep our options open. We have been asking around a lot about which hotel is the best, but we can’t seem to decide on one. An ideal hotel would be one that is in the center with good service and new, clean rooms.

Has anyone been there? Where did you stay?

Peace and Love

It’s all around us. At this very moment. Nothing can stop you from it. Why hope for world peace and love when you have that all around you? Trust me you’re not realizing this now because it was never taken away from you. It’s impossible not to feel it during this month. It’s every where, from the Ghabgaat to the Yam3aat. It starts from within and it grows to become something unimaginable. A community can only be whole when the citizens are whole. So, it’s every single individual’s job. Spread the love. Peace.

New Avatar on Twitter

If you guys follow me on Twitter, you might of noticed that I changed my avatar. I have been wanting to change it for a really long time. The one I had was not something I wanted to represent my blog. So, I took the liberty of making a new logo/avatar for the blog. At first I was using an app on my mac called Art Text. It’s kind of similar to Word Art in Microsoft word, but it wasn’t helpful at all. I made two designs for the blog using that, but they both were bad. At a certain time I gave up on ever finding a new design and then I found a website called picnik (thanks to BNM:*). What it does is basically edit a picture and add special effects and text. I started messing around with it; trying out the new features and stuff. This is the result I finally got:

At first I thought it was too much. Like maybe I should just keep it simple with With Summer Love mentioned only once. But then again being simple is too complex. For now, I’m keeping it as my twitter avatar.

Should I change my WordPress avatar too?

Monte Carlo – Review

I just came back from watching Monte Carlo. The movie was basically about three young women vacationing in Paris find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress. I don’t want to tell you any more because I don’t want to ruin the movie. I personally love going to a movie where I know nothing about the plot. That way I wouldn’t be expecting anything. It’s easier to judge a movie that way.

To tell you the truth I enjoyed every single bit. It was a the type of movie where you  expect things to happen and they actually do. What a liked the most about it is that even though it was that type, the film never got boring. It was exciting and I think worth going to.

Belgium – Last Summer

The pictures below are of my trip to Belgium last summer! The place was lovely and the atmosphere was filled with the smell of chocolate and waffles. We stayed at a Brussels, a city everyone must see.

It’s Summer Time..

Every now and then there comes a time when people have to say goodbye…

Don’t worry, my time hasn’t come yet. But its Summer now and I don’t think I had the chance to say goodbye to Winter yet. It’s so HOT outside. It’s unbearable. The ACs are not doing a very good job of cooling us off.

Now, the reason I was talking about goodbyes is that I’m going to be busy for a few days. A week actually. I will be swamped with work, so I won’t be able to post as often. I’m going to leave you now with this song. It’s a bit old, but its been stuck in my head for a week now. I love this song.

SO, before I end this post, I would just like to say “It’s Summer Time” and I’ll be back in no time, and hopefully posting more than the usual.
