My Trip – Continued

20120705-095924.jpg

Luck was truly on our side for most of this trip. The thing is, Italy was starting to win in the Eurocup! We were so excited for the Italy vs Germany game. The amazing thing is that in Milan, next to the Duomo Cathedral, there’s a huge TV that displays the game and thousands of fans line up to watch it. We missed the first half of the game, but we were still there when Italy won against Germany! It was soo much fun! The Italians were crazy! They started firing fire works and cheering like mad! Now, we weren’t lucky the second time. When the final against Spain came, well Italy losing 4-0 is quite disappointing. Everyone was so frustrated by the first half and a lot of people left by that time. We didn’t stay till the end either. It was so sad and it took all our excitement away.

PS, I’m not a fan of the Eurocup or of Italy, but I do love watching soccer games. I just had to cheer for Italy because we were there. Wouldn’t want to get beaten up.

Tamagotchi ♥

I fell upon this picture and I couldn’t stop thinking of it. Tamagotchi was a familiar word, but I wasn’t able to grasp what it was. I knew it would be some sort of electronic device, so I took the liberty of googling it. Turns out it was one of my favorite games as a kid. It’s basically a handheld, egg-shaped digital pet, which must be taken care of. The pet has many mechanics like eating, sleeping, going to the toliet, being sick and being happy. The pet can die because of lack of care. In the very first versions of the game, the pet must be taken care of especially during its first stages or else it would die. Now, the pet lasts longer and there’s a pause button, so it’s possible to stop playing for a while then coming back to it. I was shocked to find that it is still sold in Japan. After all the research, I looked back at the picture and figured out why it’s funny. iPhones are our new pets/Tamagotchis. We have to take care of our iPhones or else they would die.

Updates

I want to comment on some things that happened during this year’s national day celebrations. I was very disappointed to find that people have found really bad alternatives for foam. This year, the amount of police was tripled to make sure that no one was using any foam. The problem is that kids started using water guns/balloons! I bet that the amount of water that was wasted during those two days were tremendous. This isn’t good for the environment. The thing is, people are going way overboard with the water balloons. I have a friend whose car window was broken because of a balloon filled with rocks! Who does that??? That is so dangerous. The police didn’t do anything about it because it was a young kid. I heard other stories where people don’t fill up their water guns with water. I don’t want to even go there. I think the kids are not the ones to blame. The people to blame are the ones that bought them those stuff and then sit around  and watch the kids drench people with water.

The other thing I wanted to talk about was the lack of events this year. It has been a tradition that every year there’s a show held by the ministry of education where kids sing and dance. Has anyone noticed that they didn’t do one this year? Last year there were many other events! Most of them were a success! Why can’t we ever sustain all of this?

Another thing, hard luck on what happened on the game earlier. The referee truly treated the team unfairly. All I can say is that they did their best! There’s always next time of course.

Also, today’s the 29th of FEB!! It only happens once every four years. I know a girl who just celebrated her first birthday today, but she just turned 4!

How Do YOU Play UNO?

I haven’t played UNO in such a long time, but everytime I play it with my friends I find out that there’s different ways to play it. Everyone thinks that the way they play it is the correct way! So how is UNO supposed to be played? I saved you guys the burden of googling it.  Official UNO rules.

After reading it, I realized that my family plays it in a totally different way. Each player would have 10 cards in the beginning. If a player gets the skip or reverse card, we don’t use them as a way to actually skip a person or reverse the direction we just throw them in the discard pile. Also, we never used to count points! Oh, and we used to use the draw 4 card (also called wild draw card) whenever we wanted. It turns out we can only use it when we can’t throw any other card. And apparently the first player has to be the youngest! Reading those rules will settle a lot of disputes!

So how many of you have been playing UNO the wrong way?
