WHSmith in The Dubai Mall

I love love love WHSmith! I was so excited when I found out that it opened up in Dubai. I love it because it’s so big and it literally had everything. It’s a bookshop, stationary, toy store, and it also sold candy and drinks. The one I used to go to was in the MK Center in Milton Keynes (a city not far away from London, England). It was 2 floors and I would go there nearly everyday. This is creepy, but I can still remember what the store smelled like. One of my favorite places growing up.

After I saw a picture of it in Dubai, I was slightly disappointed. IT’S REALLY SMALL.

Opening Soon in Dubai

20120403-101233.jpg

I heard a while back that The Cheesecake Factory is opening soon in Kuwait. If I’m not mistaken its going to open up in Avenues Phase 3. That means its going to be a while before it opens. In Dubai Mall, they’re about to open it right next to Candylicious! I guess Dubai is going to be first. I really can’t wait! Another restaurant called Jamie’s Italian is going to open in Emirates Mall. It’s their second branch in Dubai, but I’m not sure where the first one is. The restaurant is owned by the British chef Jamie Oliver. I used to watch his shows as a kid and I loved his style of cooking. I hope I get a chance to try it!

Smart Ad

20120401-224312.jpg

I love it when ads make me stop walking. That means its a smart ad and not just any other boring one. It would take a few more seconds to actually understand it. Trying to understand an ad’s message is stronger than having a straightforward message. I believe that it appeals more to the consumer. This ad was in Dubai Mall in Bady Shop’s store window.

Obsessed With Tomatoes

I hav20120331-224726.jpge been craving tomato soup for the past week and I still didn’t have any. Instead, I have been stuffing myself with tomatoes and I can’t seem to stop. I never even realized how good tomatoes can be until now. That’s probably because of a bruschetta I had. It was too good. It made me even more obsessed about tomatoes. If you’re a tomato lover like me, then try the bruschetta at Gallerie Lafayette in Dubai Mall. It’s on the last floor cafe/restaurant.

For those who like to make their own, check out these deals and save on kitchen products.

Where to Eat in Dubai?

I have been to Dubai countless times that it feels just like home. I’m going there next weekend and so is my friend. She hasn’t been to Dubai in a long time, so she asked me about where to eat in Dubai. I didn’t know how to answer. There are so many places to go to that nothing popped in my head. I blanked out. Seriously. The only thing that came to mind after a while was La Petite Maison. It’s one of my favorite restaurants there. The food is fresh, and best of all, the taste is exquisite. Of course, there are lots of restaurants in the malls, but what she’s looking for is something that’s special in Dubai. Anyways, I need HELP! Where are the best places to eat in Dubai??
Know of any good deals?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

Review- Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

Mission Impossible isn’t a typical action movie. I don’t remember watching the first 3 movies, but this new one is worth watching. The most interesting scenes were the ones shot in Dubai. The opening scene in Dubai shows the massive sand dunes in the Emirati desert, and then zooms in to the team’s car. It shows that they were about to run into a group of camels walking in the middle of the street. The mistake was that the street had fences on both sides that prevent any animals from leaving the desert and any cars from entering. How the camels ended up on the street is a mystery to me. Also, Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, and his team checks in into 130th floor of Burj Khalifa Hotel. However, Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa occupies below the 40th floor. Ethan Hunt starts chasing after Wistrom, his enemy, through a sandstorm. It was coming from the front of Burj Khalifa, yet when they exit out front, the storm hits the building from the back. Both weren’t wearing anything that covers their faces. Ethan later wears goggles and raps a scarf around his mouth and nose while Wistrom just covers his face with a scarf. They ran and drove separate cars for more than 5 minutes without coughing or pausing once because of the storm. It’s impossible to be able to breathe in that type of sandstorm, let alone run or drive! The dust cloud then passes by really fast and the sky becomes clear in a few seconds. That is impossible. That’s because a similar sandstorm happened in Kuwait in March of this year. It’s a really rare type of storm and it lasts for hours before it clears out and it’s impossible to be able to do anything outdoors.

Overall the movie is worth watching, especially in IMAX.

Kino’s Café @ Dubai Mall

image

There is no better way to lounge than in Kino’s Café. It’s located right in the middle of Kinokuniya in Dubai mall and it over looks the huge water fountains. The food is classic Japanese, but what I really like is their chocolate milk. I’m not a fan of flavored milk, but their’s is an exception. It’s really cold and it has actual chocolate pieces. I know chocolate milk isn’t really Japanese, but they have other things like sushi and shaved ice cream. If anytime you’re in the bookstore and tired from carrying all those books, then stop by Kino’s Café.

Off to Dubai Again

image

I haven’t been posting for a while now, but I will be in the next couple of days! The past week I’ve been very busy and at the same time really sick. It was hectic, but things are better now. Anyways, I’m going to Dubai tonight. Does anyone have any restaurant suggestions?
