Wearing 3D Glasses

I love watching 3D movies, but I hate wearing the 3D glasses. I wear prescription glasses, so I always have to make sure I’m wearing contact lenses before watching a 3D movie. Wearing the contacts is not my issue, but there has been times where I have forgotten to wear them. I would then have to wear my glasses with the 3D glasses on top, which is very uncomfortable. I recently found a solution online, but it’s just an idea.

Adobe CS6

I have been searching for a long time for a place that sells certain Adobe programs for Mac. I wanted the latest version of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator (the version is called CS6). I went to iCity and Digits, but they only had older versions. I was so frustrated and I asked around, but nobody knew a place! So, I called up the computer guy my family usually deals with and asked him if he had them. At first, he told me he didn’t, but that he will try to download them and see if it works on my mac. It took him nearly a week to get the programs, but when he finally did I was relieved. He uploaded the programs to my mac in half an hour. The search has ended. If anyone is facing difficulties with getting CS6 in Kuwait, then don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll be glad to give you the details of the computer guy.

I Miss Disposable Cameras

I want a KODAK disposable camera NOW! I have been searching for it all over Kuwait, but I couldn’t find any. They used to be sold in all Co-Ops, but apparently they stopped selling them a long time ago. The KODAK disposable or single-use camera brings back so many memories from my childhood. Every summer, I would buy 2 or 3 and I would be taking pictures throughout the entire break. The best part was getting the film developed and seeing how all the pictures turned out! Then, I would get a photo album and place all the pictures in it and show the pictures to my family and friends. It’s a long process compared to printing digitally, but the excitement and fun behind it is much more. I posted earlier about my new HOLGA camera, but things didn’t work out well. The pictures couldn’t be printed because for some reason they were out of focus. It’s annoying that I don’t even know how to fix it. The good thing about it is that I realized that my 4-year-old nephew needed a camera because he was always trying to get a hold of my HOLGA and take pictures. If I ever find a place that sells the KODAK disposable camera, then I’m getting one for my nephew and one for me!

New applications. It’s the one aspect in life that I must get used to. Yes, applications are a part of my life and it’s a part of all of us now. I consider them necessities to the new way of life. They’re part of the most vital thing for our survival. Technology. Mankind has survived for thousands of years without technology, but once Man had it, there was no going back. Everyday, new things are popping out. Ways to make our lives easier and more “sufficient”.

I believe that will all my heart, but there’s one more aspect of life that has always and will always be part of the living. Business. If it wasn’t for the love and greed for money, then none of this technology would have been developed. Life works that way. These applications and programs are not being developed to satisfy our daily needs. They’re being developed to satisfy some bloke’s investment in a company.

Moving on with life and it’s various applications. I’m here to announce that you can now follow my blog on Pinterest. My username is withsummerlove. Download the application or visit Pinterest online and follow me, even if it means some guy is sitting behind a computer forever counting the amount of money he’s earning.

The Socialmatic Camera Soon a Physical Product

“Do you remember the Instagram Socialmatic? It’s a concept camera that made the rounds on the Internet back in May — a camera that lets people snap photos, share them online, and print them out as squared-shared sticky-note-style instant photos. The camera will soon go from digital concept to physical reality: it’s being turned into an actual camera, which is a proposed release date of mid-2013.”

“Trademark infringement issues aside (Instagram is pretty vigilant about defending its trademarked name), the camera has pretty neat specs: 16GB of storage space, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 4:3 touchscreen, 2 lenses, optical zoom, LED flash, and an internal printer that takes in special paper cartridges.”

Mac Decals Sold in Kuwait

A reason that doesn’t make me completely hate Instagram is because I get to learn about new stuff. One of the people I follow posted a picture of her Macbook with a sticker on its cover. I always wanted to get one! Luckily, my friend mentioned the place she got the decal from. It turned out it’s a place called MacDecal which sells a lot of stickers for Macbooks and iPads! I immediately looked at their collection and fell in love. I ended up getting two for my sister and one for me. Each decal is sold for 3KD and different sizes are available. I got my sister the Snoopy sticker and the tree sticker, while I got the one with the girls and the balloons. It’s actually a replica of one of Banksy’s street art pieces. I actually used a picture of it on one of my earlier posts without knowing what it really was until recently. Follow them on Instagram @Macdecal.

My New Holga Camera

My cameras have one thing in common, they’re all digital. Gone were the days when we used to use those Kodak disposable cameras. They were special in one aspect which is that every single picture ends up being printed and arranged in a photo album. A couple of days ago my friend sent me her late birthday present. It was a HOLGA! Now, don’t be alarmed, I never knew what a Holga was until I got one. It’s a blue 135Holga that uses 47mm (no idea what that means). What I love about it is that it’s made out of plastic, so its very light and durable. What’s even more amazing is that it uses film, so I wouldn’t get to see the pictures until they’re developed! Something I just LOVE. My friend got me two film negatives one that uses color and the other is black and white. I can’t wait to use the camera, but FIRST I need to read the manual -.-

Instagram is Over

By the end of 2012, Instagram will be over and a new application will come its way. I realized that most social networking websites and applications don’t last very long. They mostly become famous at one point, but then die out after a while.

I made a theory about the reason behind their suffering. The theory consists of two parts. First of all, too many people are using it. Following a 6-year-old and a 78-year-old on a social network at the same time, is not entertaining or useful. Of course, one would say, why not unfollow them? That 6-year-old could be your sister and that 78 year-old could be your grandfather. I call this the generation clash. The other part is that companies make accounts and use it as an advertising technique. Even if you ignore their requests or block them, you still get follow requests on a daily basis from many other companies worldwide. To me those accounts are spam accounts.

Here are a few examples:

Generation Clash – Facebook first started out as website dedicated to people who go to college only. It wasn’t intended for any other audience. After its success, it allowed anyone to make an account. So, kids and old people started making accounts and it got weird and BORING. An example of a kid’s status update: Just ate popcorn! YAY! YUMMY! COOL! LOL!!!!! While a really old person’s update would be:

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
- Hamlet, III, i

Spam Accounts – Twitter used to be a place where you write what’s on your mind and talk to your friends either by mentioning them or messaging them. Now, people tweet in “retweets”. That means they tweet stuff that practically guarantees being retweeted, so they can get more followers and attention. Then the companies started taking over. Their tweets spam your timeline and they’re just pointless. All they do is advertise. Also, they do the tweet in retweets thing which drives me nuts!!

Instagram..

Poor thing. It’s getting hit by the generation clash and the spam accounts. Instagram is over packed with companies and especially start-up businesses to show off their products and prices. They spam you by following you and then liking every single picture. They practically force you to follow them (but I still don’t). It’s also suffering from the generation clash, because crappy pixellated pictures from Google aren’t real pictures. Those types of pictures come from both kids and adults. Instagram is about taking pictures and not stealing them off the internet.
