Thank You UAE

This song was given as a gift to Kuwait from UAE. The Emirati people want to congratulate us for our National and Liberation days. I honestly think it is a really thoughtful and genuine thing to do. It is also one of the best videos I have seen so far. The video truly felt that it came from the heart. They weren’t forced to make a song, but they did and it really tells a lot about the UAE.

Thank you UAE!

Using the Word Literally

I have been told that I say the word literally a lot when I’m speaking. I sometimes use the word literally or the Arabic translation of it “حرفياً”. I have no idea why I say it, but I also noticed that both my mother and sister say it all the time (which might explain why I say it).

I was online the other day when I found a website called The Oatmeal. It makes comics and info-graphics that are really funny, yet informative. It covers topics like grammar, food, animals and technology. I was looking at all the different images, when I found one about the usage of the word literally. I pretty sure that I use the word correctly, but I guess some people don’t.

This post is dedicated to whoever overuses the word literally.

2012 in Review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 45,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 10 Film Festivals

I found what might be the coolest youtube channel ever. Not really. But anyways I have never seen a group so talented as CDZA. They take famous songs and mess up their lyrics or their tune. It’s so funny. I love how they never laugh when doing their videos. They’re so serious, which really adds to the humor in it. This is one of their videos that I just love! BTW, in order to actually laugh, you really need to know English songs, both old and new ones.

1. an order establishing a specific time in the evening after which certain regulations apply, especially that no civilians or other specified group of unauthorized persons may be outdoors or that places of public assembly must be closed.
2. a regulation requiring a person to be home at a certain prescribed time, as imposed by a parent on a child.
3. the time at which a daily curfew starts.
4. the period during which a curfew is in effect.
5. a signal, usually made with a bell, announcing the start of the time of restrictions under a curfew.

Here’s a weird story. When I was a kid, I thought that having a curfew was cool. I remember everyone talking about what time they had to sleep. I was always like “I sleep whenever I want”. I’m the youngest in my family and my mom wasn’t very strict about bedtime. It was fine with my mother just as long as I wasn’t out late and I finished my homework/ate dinner. At some point I talked to my mom about having a curfew and decided that I should have one. I was such an IDIOT! Who sets rules for themselves? Anyways, I made it so that I cannot stay up later than 10pm. Now of course my curfew is all about what time I have to be home.

Did anyone else have a curfew, whether it was set by your parents or yourself?

I really want to try making this! Perfect drink for summer and chalet!

Originally posted on daisy's world:

Italian soda is a refreshing drink, especially perfect on a warm, sunny day.  Despite it’s name, this drink was actually invented in San Francisco’s North Beach, not in Italy.  It gets its name from the flavored syrups that originated in Italy that are used to make it.  The drink is simply flavored syrup mixed with carbonated water served in a tall glass with ice.  Add a splash of cream and it becomes an Italian cream soda or cremosa.  Either way, an Italian soda is a nice alternative to store-bought soft drinks.

I really wish that camping (like the one in movies) is possible in Kuwait.

The following pictures are hoaxes.

Brown Diamond -Review

This weekend, three things happened. I went to the chalet, I ate and I ate. The food was incredible, but what really caught my attention was a dessert from Brown Diamond. It’s a home delivery service that sells one kind of dessert. Each piece contains chocolate, biscuits and marshmallows. The pieces are very small, so it’s not too sweet/”ma yim7ar”. A kilo which is like 1 box is 12 KD, but its totally worth trying.
